I forgot a very important issue:

The basic system latency is the time delay since the interrupt to the app is
notified. That delay is necessarily larger for the timer interrupt than for
the audio one. It's that why I insisted in explaining that the timer
interrupt does a lot more things than any other. Again, don't see it as
processor time used, but as latency added.
