That may have been a rule in 1995, but it certainly no longer applies to
processors of the class that run Windows. It's micro-optimization.
Also, let us remember that this is a SAMPLE. It is designed as a basis for
other work. It is not intended to be the pinnacle of fine-grained
hyper-optimized coding.
