I've seen 3 or 4 posts this week about "generic audio enhancement". The whole concept seems bogus to me. There's no audio magic that works in every case. I suspect most of these are doing little more than boosting the bass, and you can do that with the built-in controls.
You are wrong. See http://www.dirac.se for instance, it is an advanced room time/phase correcting and equalizing product. The performance of their algorithm is nothing short of miraculous. You can test it with the Dirac HD Player for iPhone. Their product would've been so much easier to develop as an APO. So, too bad Microsoft tossed that baby out with the water...
The APO concept was not introduced until Vista. Prior to that, these things were implemented as audio filter drivers. They almost universally sucked.
I know, I just bagged all SysFx etc. etc. under a common name, but they perform much the same type of function. /Rob ****************** WDMAUDIODEV addresses: Post message: mailto:wdmaudiodev@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subscribe: mailto:wdmaudiodev-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=subscribe Unsubscribe: mailto:wdmaudiodev-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=unsubscribe Moderator: mailto:wdmaudiodev-moderators@xxxxxxxxxxxxx URL to WDMAUDIODEV page: http://www.wdmaudiodev.com/
