So do you think that the microsoft kmixer converts float to integer (24 or 32 bit container) while recording, if the driver supports float format only. That would be needed for apps who dont support the float format, but 24 bit integer formats.

It was an app I wrote. I used 32 bit float format, 32 bits per sample, 32 bit container. There's an example wave format struct on MSDN.
