So you're completely right: it's impossible to do this using an sAPO without Microsoft's blessing. They must be using some other technique to access DRM protected audio.
But there is no way. Consider WaveRT driver model, there is no way to get between rendering client and the device. So they must use a sAPO, and gotten it signed. For a sAPO that handles DRM protected content, yes you'd probably need to go to WHQL to get the sAPO DLL signed. But all that it takes is for the sAPO to pass the tests required for a submission to WHQL (which should be easy enough), then you're "home". Like.. you don't have to "tell" the tests that there is a "backdoor" in the sAPO that pipes out incoming rendered audio... ;) Regards, /Rob ****************** WDMAUDIODEV addresses: Post message: mailto:wdmaudiodev@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subscribe: mailto:wdmaudiodev-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=subscribe Unsubscribe: mailto:wdmaudiodev-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=unsubscribe Moderator: mailto:wdmaudiodev-moderators@xxxxxxxxxxxxx URL to WDMAUDIODEV page: http://www.wdmaudiodev.com/
