because under WDM the sample rates of the different pins of ONE device are not 
guaranteed to be exactly the same. Input
might run at 44101Hz while output runs at 44099Hz (for whatever reason). 
Moreover the pins can't be started
synchronously so your input callback and output callback are not necessarily 
called at the same time nor with the same
frequency. Agreed, it would be a nice improvement to the WDM protocol if it 
would provide

a) a way to start multiple pins synchronously
b) a common callback for input and output pins of one device (just like OS X 
CoreAudio)
