I can state with some authority that WAUG grew out of a discussion between John Stonier and myself at one of the Epsom Acorn Shows. John was about to move from the London area to Yeovil and we decided to see if we could put together a meeting down here, because I could provide a room. I think that the SW Show followed quite quickly afterwards, once John had established his home base and got married. John had organised the SE Show or whatever it used to be called. Neither of those comments actually nails the years, but it probably was late 1990s, definitely no earlier. If I still have an archive of very old e-mails I will trawl them and see what I can turn up.

Anybody know when the SW Show was first held? Or when WAUG was
founded?

I seem to recall they were both the result of John Stonier's move from
the London area to Yeovil. Earliest mention of SW Show that I can
find in Archive looks like 1998, but the text doesn't actually say it
was the first.
