Posted by Clare Green:Athol Bird and Nature Club presents:Saturday, April 17,
11 AM-1 PM or later - Geology Field Trip NEW TRIPItinerary- We will visit
Hastings Pond Road to look for Garnet and Peridot deposits. Trip will also look
for Tourmaline deposits in Warwick center as well as stone walls and a
rock-scape labyrinth (Clare Green's house). Time permitting, we'll visit Tully
Mountain and discuss glacial erosion and deposition. Participants will have the
opportunity to collect samples and are encouraged to bring eye protection and
wear protective shoes. Meet at Warwick Fire Department parking lot, Warwick
center. We suggest limiting trip to 4 cars, perhaps 10 people? Social
distancing rules mean we won't be carpooling. We will accommodate people with
disabilities, but trip will include short hikes up to 5 mins through woods.
Max MacPhee will lead the hike. He is an amateur rock hound and active in
ABNC's Geology Division. Questions contact Max at commustar@xxxxxxxxx Sent
