Hi DJX.

Thanks, that's a generous offer!
Here's the Windows version of the software, so you don't have to go hunting on the Boss Website.
https://www.sendspace.com/pro/dl/0ve2oa

Nope, you don't need an amp attached. You can click on a button at the bottom of the first screen that says "offline mode" and that lets you poke around. You just can't save settings, because no physical amp is attached. It looks like everything else can be played with though.

The installer prompts you to install Adobe Air. I'm not sure if that is just used to view the PDF< or might that give us a clue as to how this thing is writing to the screen?

Just curious. What's your line of work these days? Are you still designing websites and building PC's?

Hi Chris. Do you need the amp to run the app? I can take a look at it and see what’s going on.

Subject: [ddots-l] Re: Boss Tone Studio Application for Katana

Hi Vince.

I changed the subject line.

I got much further this time, and this now looks very promising!

I was able to do a Numpad slash (left mouse
click) on a mangled word near the bottom of the
OCR results, something like ouvinfe. totally
mangled recognition of the word "offline" I
expect. Make sure the window is maximized and
your screen resolution isn't set too low.

After that, I ended up in a screen with two radio
buttons: editor and librarian, and tons of other
things I can arrow up and down through. I don't
know how this stuff appears visually, but the
only way to move among various controls is with the up and down arrow keys.

Arrowing down, I get to headings like Amp Type,
Equalizer, and gain, although they aren't
identified as headings. Keep arrowing down, and
you may hear the amp type read out. Here, it says
"brown". The amp type selection consists of five
radio buttons. Hit enter, and down arrow, and you
can change this to clean, crunch, lead, brown, etc.

Honestly, if someone knows how to write Jaws
scripts, a lot of this would just involve
labeling various buttons, and getting things to
read accurately when using the arrow keys.

Mike, if you're reading this, get past that first
connection screen and you can do lots of things!

Edit fields for values trigger Jaws's forms mode,
so is this application using some sort of web-style interface?

I just relaunched the program and now, Jaws is
reading me that first screen. Not automatically,
but if I down arrow through it. Now I actually
get to an offline button and then can activate it
with numpad slash. I repeat, this time, I did not
have to do convenient OCR on the first screen.
Why the heck would that change from one launch to the next? LOL

This is so bizarre!

I guess I'd better start learning how to script then.

Maybe I should rent one of the amps as well, so I
can figure out what unlabeled buttons in the app actually do.

If anybody else manages to label graphics or come
up with any other Jaws configuration data, let's share!
