I inserted separate instances of Independence on tracks 1 and 2.
I set track 1 to a bass and track 2 to a piano.
I also set the midi channel out to 1 on track 1 and channel 2 on track 2
(using the midi routing dialog control+WindowsKey+D).
I realize this may not work like Sonar (which I'm used to), but in sonar if
I set up things as above, if I arrowed to track 1 and played my midi
keyboard I would only hear the bass. Similarly, if I arrowed to track 2 and
played my keyboard I would only hear the piano. Is there some way of doing
this in Samplitude so I can play and only hear one instruement at a time?
Is there some way of setting the output of each instance of Independence to
a separate midi channel so that I don't get my midi data confused on
separate tracks?
Thanks.

Now in Samplitude no matter which track I am on I hear both instruments
(unless I solo one of the tracks).
