That'd be great, Steve, but I'd really rather see somebody, either
Magix or Mackie/N.I., make that happen. If they did, then the way
those buttons work on Samplitude would be the same as the way they do
on Apple DAW's, not to mention that the day N.I. or Magix does make
that happen, your implementation will break.

I'm thinking of having a crack at mapping them to more Samplitude functions,
so that I can manage say up/down arrowing the tracks and mapping undo, as I
now have the play/stop/record functions working. So, this would make the
whole process of recording etc a breeze without having to have the Pc
keyboard sat on my lap. Thoughts please? steve.
