Edel Colyn Kenny has had my PC in to NCBI to have a look at it. Maybe he would
do this for you.

Thanks Paul

I will try what you have suggested, I'm thinking maybe I should just get a
new pc.

I suppose like everything else they're not made to last anymore.

Regards and thanks

Edel..

Hi Edel,

Thank you for the information here. I think you could update the memory to
at least 2 GB and also maybe have the internal fan changed within the
computer.

Paul.

Hi Paul

My pc is about 4 to 5 years old

How much memory is installed in it?

1GB

What anti virus?

Had avast but shop changed it to Microsoft security essentials

Have you checked on Windows update lately for any new updates which should
be downloaded, this includes optional updates.

Yes and done that

Have you downloaded latest run-time components?
Here is a download link for the necessary runtimes;
http://ninite.com/.net-air-flash-flashie-java-silverlight/ninite.exe

Yes done that.

I thought there was a slight improvement after updating but when I tried to
scroll through stuff quickly it started whizzing again but not as quickly as
usual.

Can this information help in diagnosing my problem Paul.

Regards,
Edel

Subject: [vip_students] whizzing pc

Hi all

I have a strange one not really a vip issue but a few months ago my computer
started whizzing and freezing especially if I asked it to do anything like
for example go into videos on face book.

I brought it to the shop and had it serviced and a virus was removed.

The problem while not completely cured was better but now its got to the
stage that everything is so slow again I just get frustrated and turn it
off.

Other programmes and internet pages seem to run ok. Could it be a facebook
thing

I have done virus checks, defragmentation and disc clean ups.

Can anyone suggest any further checks I can do before paying another €90.

The shop told me it could be a memory issue, how can I check if this is the
case and if so why are other WebPages and programmes running ok.

Any help appreciated

Regards
Edel..
