RTÉ have their own 'Media Player' applet - a kind-of embedded RealPlayer -
with which it is possible to watch or listen to several of their shows and
programmes during the past seven days. Just wanted to correct a possible
misapprehension there might have been - we have got something, but it is not
as developed as the BBC IPlayer. During live on-line telecasts, when the
ad-breaks come on the player goes silent - for a few minutes! I don't know
what happens the picture then - I suppose that goes dead too!

the reason we don't pay the BBC licence is because we pay the RTÉ licence.
However, BBC licence or not, it depends on your email address, which the BBC
site sees when you're on it, whether you can use the IPlayer to download TV
programmes. It is unlikely that you could openly do it, ever, in Dublin,
until the BBC get international rights from the rights-holders -
copywriters, etc. RTÉ may also re-broadcast some of these programmes, so
they wouldn't be too happy. However, we in the ROI can receive RTÉ
television broadcasts live on-line which are restricted to the Republic of
ireland - including Euro 2008 games, for example. However, they haven't
gone as far as developing their own 'IPlayer'.

BlankNot that Paul but I am in London and I can access the BBC iPlayer. It
is fantastic for me because if there are BBC Northern Ireland programmes
they are not shown in London (Regional) and I get to see them. My friend is
a law lecturer and lawyer in Northern Ireland. She is often on the various
discussion programmes so once the programme has finished I can click on to
it and watch the programme which is fantastic. You will probably have read
previously where others have said living in the Irish Republic one cannot
access BBC iPlayer because one does not pay the BBC TV liscence. I must try
it when I am in Dublin again later this month or in July. I have paid a TV
liscence so I hope I can still access it. Probably won't be able to but
we'll see. In Dublin I could then access BBC London.
Will be interested to hear what others have to say re your query.

anyone know about internet TV.
was surfing today and clicked on www.whitestick.co.uk
clicked on downloads and came across a program for internet TV free.
anyway i installed the program and the player it uses to show content,
real player .
my question is has anyone else had any success with this or similar
programs .
