Susan there are two parallel lines on some readers which means there may be one or two switches to control whether or not these lines are needed. Some visually impaired people find that to have these lines may be helpful say if the text is between the lines or even one line. In other words it is a way of stopping the paper say from being at an angle and reading part one line and part another line. In addition, people use these viewers for writing purposes and again the lines would be useful in order to write in a straight line. Tjeu act as markers. I do not use these lines myself but your friend might like to play around with the controls to check and see if I am right. I may not be right of course. I would also say that Teman would have someone in technical support who might help. Someone else may come up with solutions but if I can find a telephone number for Teman I will let you know.

hi brendon,

my friend is having a problem with his reader, when he trys to read a document under his reader it's like some one has scored a line with a pen across every line of text, have you ever had this happen to you? where would my friend go to get the reader fixed?

many thanks

susan

hi folks,

a friend of mine has a reader called tieman, it has a sort of a shelf that you put a letter or a book under then it comes up magnified on a TV screen, it's not a CCTV reader it is just called tieman. has any one heard of this before? my friend was given it by a lady who's blind husband had died and she thinks that it was bought down south.

also can some one please tell me the phone number of the national council for the blind?
best wishes

Susan
