Hi John, not Jackie but the Open University are very good and run computer courses too. It is all distance learning and they cater very well for blind students.

Dear Jackie,

Good luck with your exams, but please tell me about the course
you're doing. For some time now, I've wanted to do the ECDL or
similar, but no joy.

I tried distance learning with the FAS eCollege website, but the
course material is presented with old inaccessible Flash. I tried the
NLN, but they made me feel like I was joining the army rangers because
of the level of commitment and discipline they expect from their
students. And then there was all this bureaucracy and some of the
questions on the numerous application forms... God wouldn't ask you!

I could go to a FAS training centre, but a PA would have to read out
anything JAWS couldn't see and then there's the whole rigmarole over
transport to and from the centre... I despair.

I'd be interested to hear the FAS/NLN course experiences of anyone
on the list. Please let me know how you got on and whether it was all
worth it,

yours,
John.
