Hi all,

For those who are not on the VICS list, I just wanted to let you know that VICS
are having an open day next Saturday 1st December, at Wynns Hotel Abbey
street.

The day will kick off at 11 AM, with a number of presentations on various
pieces of hardware and software. In the afternoon, you will be able to go around
to chat to the various presenters, and get a hands on demo of all these
gadgets.

It will include topics like:

A presentation from NCBI on daisy, which is the latest format of reading audio
books.

Dublin South county council library, will tell us about a new website for
downloading audio books to listen on your pc or on your mp3 player.

Yours truly will present a short piece about a new talking digital radio
available from cobolt, which is also a talking alarm clock with a rather nice
voice
too, I might add.

Alan Davis will be coming over from Humanware in the UK, to show an impressive
range of gadgets.

There will also be a presentation from Denise Leahy of Trinity College, who
will bring us up to date on the progress of ECDL, and telling us about an
introductory
programme called Equal Skills, which is a foundation level prior to taking
ECDL.

So, I think you'll agree, that there should be something for everyone next
Saturday. The event will cost you nothing to attend and everyone is welcome.
