I believe you're fine as you are. I think paul T., is leading us towards
version 3.8, since the re-design took place in version 4.0. Among the
features in version 4.0 (which version i am not using) is improved audio,
available only to version 4.0 users. JAWS scripts are being actively
developed for 4.0, but may not as yet be up to the customary standard.

Interesting. Would you recommend that others should also download from the
link you mention for better performance, even if they already are using
other Skype versions. For instance, in my case I am using Skype 3.8.0.188
and Jaws scripts revision 653.
