Hi Frank, You probably wouldn't have to pay for it, and I reckon you wouldn't have to die for it! Microsoft has a number of such files to help those of us using earlier versions of word read documents produced with later versions. If you're going to be receiving many of these files, it would probably be worth your while to download the compatibility pack. Your friend could try joining this list by, first, writing an empty message to irelandvip_students-subscribe@xxxxxxxxxxxxx and then responding to the message asking for confirmation, as instructed. . ----- Original Message ----- From: "frank kelly" <frankke@xxxxxxxxxx> To: <vip_students@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Monday, June 23, 2008 9:44 PM Subject: [vip_students] Re: List Involvemement! hi Eleanor thanks for the info the file i was trying to open was an e mail attachment its a word file i get a message asking if i want to download a compatible pack i am not sure if i have to pay for it and anyway i have dial up and probably wouldnt live long enough to see it downloaded thanks again ----- Original Message ----- >From: "Eleanor Burke" <eleanorburke@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx> To: <vip_students@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Monday, June 23, 2008 9:32 PM Subject: [vip_students] Re: List Involvemement! > Hi Frank > A new comer to the list has to join via Paul Traynor as it is Paul who has > set this up and we all got our membership from Paul. > > You do not say what type of attachment you want to read.
