Hi Frank et al, I have converted tapes track by track using cdex. I
connected my tape player to the line in on my sound card in the computer
using the headphone socket on the tape player. A lead with stereo 3.5 mini
jack at each end was used.
In cdex you can set the source to sound card.
Careful adjustment of the volume of the output of the player is needed to
avoid distortion.

what I do to make tapes into cd is I connect my olimpis digital
Dictaphone
to my tape player and this does the trick. what you need is,
1) olimpis digital Dictaphone or any other that you find accessible for
your self.
2) a wire to connect this to the tape player. this wire is the one with
the two ear phone jacks on each end you can get this in any good
electrical shop like peat's in Parnell street in Dublin.
3)a tape player one with auto reverse would be better if you have one.
then put your tape in, connect your Dictaphone to the stereo ear phone
jack press play on the stereo press record on the Dictaphone and away you
go. if you have auto reverse it will play to the end of both sides of the
tape without you having to change sides of the tape. then when it
finishes connect your Dictaphone to your computer and download your stuff
to the computer and this can then be burnt on to a cd. the good thing
about this is that you have it backed up to the computer as well as cd.
