NEW DuBois Clean-Up Planned - If you live in the City of DuBois and you have large outside items that you'd like to dispose of or a small outside project you need help with , please take note.  A clean-up is taking place on Saturday, August 6th from 9am till noon.  Volunteers with pick-up trucks will be dispatched to pick up whatever you want to get rid of.  There is NO charge and most any item can be picked up.  Special thanks to the City of DuBois for donating the Veolia dumpsters for this project.  This is a neighbor helping neighbor project with the help of churches, civic groups and businesses.  Please call Julie Stewart at 591-2570 or e-mail elmstdubois@xxxxxxxxx to submit your items for pick-up or if you'd like to help.  Remember, there is no charge and no hassle.  Just call or e-mail.   

***Marcellus Shale & Pipelines – Understanding the Infrastr ucture Development - Penn State Cooperative Extension will be holding a workshop, “Marcellus Shale & Pipelines – Understanding the Infrastructure Development” on Tuesday, August 16, 2011 at the Penn State DuBois campus, Hiller Auditorium, East Second Ave., DuBois, PA.   The meeting will start at 7:00 PM and end at approximately 9:00 PM.  Speakers include Dave Messersmith, Penn State Extension Educator from the Marcellus Education Team, and David A. Grady, Esq.  Discussion will include the background and need for pipeline development in the Marcellus region, various regulations and safety issues, and the legalities of right-of-way agreements.  A question and answer period will follow the discussion.  Please contact the Clearfield County Extension Offi ce to register to attend at (814) 765-7878. 

The Birdies to Bogies Ladies Golf Tournament is scheduled for Friday, September 9^th at the Beechwoods Golf Course.  Open to all golfers who want a day of fun, food, friends and fun, food friends – oh, golf too!  Call today for a registration form – we’re not looking for professional golfers, just foursomes who want to ENJOY! Public Hearings for the 814 Area Code Plan:  All residents and businesses are reminded that the Pa Public Utility Commission (PUC) will be holding public hearings to gather input on the effects of both a geographic split and overlay options designed to ensure adequate numbering resources in the 814 Area Code.  Do you feel your business will suffer from changing your area code?  Will there be a financial impact for your business?  Does it sound like the change would work for you?  Whatever the case, this is your opportunity to express your opinion and hear what others think.  If you wish to speak at the hearing, you are asked to bring a written statement with copies for the hearing board.  The decision for cha nging the 814 Area Code has been suspended to allow for these hearings-so SPEAK NOW – OR DON’T!  Two local dates:  Wednesday, August 17^th at 6:00 pm at the DuBois Area High School Auditorium; or Thursday, August 18^th at 6:00 pm at the Punxsutawney Community Center Auditorium in Punxsy.

The DuBois Area Council on the Arts (DACOTA) will present the fourteenth season of its summer poetry series, Poetry in the Park, at the DuBois City Park in the large pavilion near the YMCA.  Each sess ion will be on a Friday and will last from noon-1 p.m.  The date for the readings - August 12.  This event features readings by area poets of all ages, some of whom have published their poetry.  The public is invited to read poetry or just bring lunch and enjoy the readings.  There is no charge and the event which will be held rain or shine.
