They are incredible.
I'm a keen cook and initially thought it was the lazy way, plus I find
kneading bread dough quite therapeutic!
All I have to do now is measure ingredients and press a few buttons and a
couple of hours later - fresh bread. You can even set them on a timer to
cook overnight so you get a fresh loaf for breakfast!
We've never had a bad loaf from ours and are still very much in the
experimenting with a new machine stage.
They are fairly big...but you can't beat homemade bread and butter....

Yes it is the lazy way of making fresh bread but it does I imagine
save time. I've not bought one yet so others on this list will
probably have something to add.

I've got the Panasonic too, had it this Christmas so I believe it's
one of the latest models.
Buttons are easy to use and beep nicely. Only downside is it
remembers the program you used last whenever you turn it back on,
which is great if you're likely to use the same one each time!
So, say I made bread on program 2, with medium crust, next time that
would automatically be ready to go, but if I didn't want that,
pressing the menu button then moves to program 3, not back to 1...if
this is making any sense!
So I'd have to remember which I last used.
Other than that, it makes awesome bread that doesn't last 5 minutes
here, even my six year old daughter who has to have crustless
supermarket bread gobbles it up, crusts and all!

Sharon, I have no sight at all, and use a Panasonic bread maker. It
has button controls, easy to locate, and the machine beeps when any
of the buttons is pressed. You need to know how many beeps are
required for all the settings.
I've had my machine for a couple of years, so they might have
changed the model. Panasonic have a good customer advice service,
and they will tell you if the current machine beeps. Their number is
08448 443899
If you decide on the Panasonic, I suggest you get the instructions
brailled or audio-ed. If you need Braille, there are one or two
transcribers you might contact. My notes on transcribers may well be
out of date, so best ask RNIB.
