Hello again
Although I share Roger's surprise, the contributors' interests suggest
that the focus will be rather more strongly on human communication (and
specifically speech and hearing) than VIHAR's, possibly with more
short-term goals. So there's probably room for both.
all best

Dear All,
I did indeed receive this announcement, and I contacted the organisers to alert them to the similarity between their event and ours. Apparently they were vaguely aware of VIHAR-2017, but they didn't explain how their description - "vocal communication in-and-between humans, animals, and robots" - came to be only one word different from VIHAR. They have expressed interest in VIHAR-2019, so we can see how that might develop.
All the best
Roger
