Hi folks.

Sorry to be so much of a bother, but since writing the previous emails this
morning, I have done an anti spiware scan, scan disk and a disk defragmenter,
non of which helped my avast situation though. I did however go into my avast
help menu and discovered that I'm using avast version 7. I'm sorry that I
haven't done so yesterday. The only explanation I can come up with is that I
was so freaked out, that I couldn't think straight.

I also went into the technical support section on the "avast" website and
found out in the relevant section that if one has a problem uninstalling avast
from control panel, there is a removal tool available from the avast website
which I have downloaded.
When I tried using it however, jaws said, that the "avast self defense" mode
was on and that I should either try removing the software while my windows was
in a safe mode, otherwise, I should try disabling the "avast self defense" in
the "settings" "troubleshooting" tab.
Since, as far as I know "safe mode" runs without speech, I decided to disable
the self defense check box.
I PROBABLY DID SOMETHING WRONG THOUGH, BECAUSE AS SOON AS I WOULD UNCHECK THAT
BOX AND TAB TO "OK", after I would try to run the removal tool, it would still
tell me that the self defense is still running. I would go back into the
troubleshooting tab, and sure enough, the box would be checked, as if I HAVEN'T
TOUCHED IT. I TRIED BOTH EXITING OUT OF THE AVAST DIALOGUE AFTER PRESSING OK
AND LEAVING IT OPEN. It made no difference I'm afraid.

Could someone please tell me what I might be doing wrong?

I'm using windows xp home addition, jaws 10, NVDA 2011 addition and the avast 7
professional.

Thanks in advance and sorry to be so much of a bother once more.

Good night and God bless.

Maria.
