Hi Bert. Thanks for the prompt reply. But no, the mute is off and keyboard clicks are enabled. As I say, this seems to be a sporadic problem. For example, since I sent my last email, I turned the phone off for a while and when I turned it back on, all was well. That didn't work the previous few times I tried it. It will be interesting to see how long it lasts this time. Pat McCarthy phoned me regarding this thread with a couple of suggestions. He suggested that I switch off all apps in the app switcher. This may have something to do with the problem as it seems to have coincided with setting up Find My iPhone on Saturday. His other suggestion is that I do a reset, in other words, hold down the on/off switch in conjunction with the home button for about 30 seconds. I'll wait and see if the problem re-occurs, which I suspect it will, and then try both options and report back over the next few days. In the meantime, any other thoughts from you all out there gratefully accepted. Over the past few days, I've noticed that my iPhone 4 s does not give an audible sound when opening an item or app, or moving between items as it used to do. In other words, it still speaks when I tap or double tap on a desired item or app on the screen without the usual click sound. When I noticed this first on Saturday, I found that turning off the phone for five minutes or so seemed to rectify the problem. However, it eventually reverts to silent once again. Now, it seems to be more difficult to get it to do even that. I don't think this involves a change in settings but I could be wrong. Anyone had a similar experience?
