Hi Stuart,I've come across a few stations that do use mp3 to shoutcast, but I wasn't sure whether I was getting them live streaming or was it delayed or a recorded stream. May find out Saturday; <grin>.

Hi Flor, Yes, I know it looks strange, but the type of encoder we're using broadcasts using the mp3 file extension. I can assure you that mp3 works! Stuart. Iwould have thought .mms or .pls or .m3u, for example, they being livestreaming formats, since mp3 is a download format rather than a streamformat. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Stuart Lawler" <stuart@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> To: "vicsireland" <vicsireland@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Wednesday, February 24, 2010 2:32 PM Subject: [vicsireland] Vics Information Day Broadcasting on the Internet!Dear All, While we're hoping to see as many of you in Galway this Saturday forour annual information and technology day, we are also aware that forany number of reasons it may not be possible for you to attend. I am therefore delighted to be able to tell you that for the first time ever Vics will broadcast the day's proceedings live on the internet. Not only will you be able to attend the open day virtually, but youwill be able to interact with us via twitter and msn and put questionsto the presenters, just as if you were in the room. Here's a few instructions on how to make sure you're in attendance virtually on Saturday. 1. To have the audio stream play on your computer, open your media player of choice and enter the following URL. http://live.vicsireland.org:8000/openday.mp3 Note that doing this from within your web browser should also open your default media player. Note also that the stream wont' be live until just before 11 on Saturday, so if you access this link before then, you'll most likely get an error message. 2. If you use twitter, then why not follow vicsireland, not just forthis event, but to keep up with the latest news from Vics. During theopen day we'll be taking your questions and comments via twitter. 3. You can also interact with us on Saturday via msn. Simply addvicsireland@xxxxxxxxx to your msn contacts and you can chat with us in real-time during the event. If you are using the msn option, it would be helpful if you could add vicsireland@xxxxxxxxx to your msn contactsin advance of Saturday's event so that we have you on line in good time for the start of the presentations. I hope that those of you who can't travel this weekend might be able to join us virtually and I look forward to seeing you on line on Saturday. Regards, Stuart. =========================================================== The vicsireland mailing list To unsubscribe at any time send a mail to: vicsireland-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxxwith the word "unsubscribe", without the quotes in the subject of themessage.
