Stewart, it was also very difficult to hear Mark's very interesting conversation re digital TV as was parts of conversation between Tony, Brian and Tim. You were audible throughout but others not. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Stuart Lawler" <stuart.lawler@xxxxxxx> To: <vicsireland@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Tuesday, May 13, 2008 10:24 AM Subject: [vicsireland] Re: Infovics Magazine now available! Hi Tim, and thanks for feedback. Yes, Josh was indeed a little too far from the microphone. Due to time constraints, and in particular because we needed the Infovics magazine to be available before the AGM, I did not have time to split the tracks. Of course people can just download the mp3 version and skip through the features that way, which is probably preferable anyway. Hi Stuart, Had a quick listen to the interview with Josh, and while I didn't think the background noise was a problem, I felt that Josh was too far from the microphone, and thus you had to strain to hear what he was saying. Another problem with the magazine is that it doesn't seem to be split into tracks. While in Windows Media Player I cannot skip to the beginning of the next feature. As a result, I would be forced to listen to the whole magazine, even though I mightn't want to hear some parts. Hi Maureen, Firstly, many thanks for your feedback, which is most welcome. Infovics is an informal magazine, the interviews we produce are designed to be done in a relaxed setting, with the background sound adding to the ambience. Saying that, I would of course be interested to hear if the noise on the current edition effected anyone else's enjoyment of the content of the interviews. As a rule I try, wherever possible, to avoid interviewing people in the studio, my feeling is that it is too clinical and the sound produced is very dead. For example, if Tony, Brian, Tim and Myself had sat in the studio and recorded our chat reflecting on the last three years of Vics, I don't think it would have held people's attention for as long. I hope this might explain my thinking but as I say, I am open to other people's view points and in particular, those with hearing impairment. Many thanks again Maureen. Stuart. -----Original Message----- From: vicsireland-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:vicsireland-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Maureen Newelll Sent: 12 May 2008 18:51 To: vicsireland@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [vicsireland] Re: Infovics Magazine now available! Stuart, Infovics magazine could indeed have been a cracker if only you interviewed people in a quiet room or in the studio. I doubt very much if people with any bit of a hearing impairment could get the gist of some of the interviews, because I found it difficult enough. Surely you could interview people elsewhere? Why not bring them to the studio? There must be enough money in the Vics kitty to pay a taxi there and back for a proper talk. You could go to pub or café afterwards. I abhor these informal interviews because the background noise can be so obtrusive to the content. Food for thought! Maureen. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Stuart Lawler" <Stuart.lawler@xxxxxxx> To: <vicsireland@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Sunday, May 11, 2008 2:16 PM Subject: [vicsireland] Infovics Magazine now available!
