Apologies Sabrina, you've just reminded me to say that the cd's are about to be copied, so those people who still want them, will get them shortly. Eamonn, the device I'm using to record is the MAudio Microtrack II. Stuart, I think I'd rather not have it 'set in stone', as to which style is better. Whatever is practical for you and most of all for the 'interviewees'. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Stuart Lawler" <stuart.lawler@xxxxxxx> To: <vicsireland@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Tuesday, May 13, 2008 12:56 PM Subject: [vicsireland] Re: Infovics Magazine now available! Hi Derbhile, I agree, there were some problems certainly relating to people being a little further from the Microphone. This was down to my learning how to use my very new audio recorder, so apologies all for that. As derbhile says though, background sound can be very effective when used properly and on that note, I'd be interested to ask people to feed me back on what style they would prefer interviews to be conducted on future editions of Infovics. Do you prefer the quieter studio interview setting, with no noise or do you like our slightly more informal settings, where we try, as much as is possible in audio, to bring you with us and make it more of a conversational chat as opposed to an interview. All comments welcomed. Regards, Stuart. >From: vicsireland-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:vicsireland-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Derbhile Dromey Sent: 13 May 2008 11:19 To: vicsireland@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [vicsireland] Re: Infovics Magazine now available! I don't think the problem is background noise, I think it was more of a technical problem to do with some of the speakers not being close enough to the microphone, which can be easily remedied. I think the use of background noise can be very effective. It's easy to be down on noise, but when used well, sound has a lot of creative possibilities, which I think Stuart has harnessed in his interviews. ******************************************************************** NOTICE: The information contained in this email and any attachments is confidential and may be privileged.
