Hi Maureen, yes, I can understand and i think others will, as well! Hopefully, you'll be able to play more region-1 DVD's if need be. Sometimes one can learn a lot from having to do things in an unorthodox way. I read somewhere that the user is allowed to change the default DVD regional settings five times, after which you're stuck with the last region change you made. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Maureen Newelll" <mcnewell@xxxxxxxxxx> To: <vicsireland@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Monday, January 07, 2008 2:25 PM Subject: [vicsireland] Re: DVD Player A combination of things, Flor, between talking to people, downloading a freeware DVD product and changing settings. After speaking with Gus, I downloaded a DVD freeware product and it prompted me that the Regional settings were wrong. Then after great work, Paul gave me the pathway to change the Regional settings. I took off the freeware product but I still could get no joy with Windows media player or Real player.I then got someone with sight to have a look and he told me that the picture element was working but we could not get sound. Windows media was not recognising the DVD. The DVD however did work in his laptop. I reinstalled the freeware product and now I could get music but no voice, so after speaking to someone else I discovered that one needs to enter twice or three times to activate the voice. This I did and "bingo". Hope you can understand this mail. Maureen. ----- Original Message ----- >From: "Flor Lynch" <florlync@xxxxxx> To: <vicsireland@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Monday, January 07, 2008 12:36 PM Subject: [vicsireland] Re: DVD Player Would you like to tell us, maureen, what did it? ----- Original Message ----- >From: "Maureen Newelll" <mcnewell@xxxxxxxxxx> To: <vicsireland@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Monday, January 07, 2008 10:53 AM Subject: [vicsireland] DVD Player Thanks to all whom helped me with my probs, I am now happily listening to "Mrs. Browne's Boys". - Another goal achieved!
