It's an issue with how you're scrubbing. When you scrub keep your fingers on
the phone. When you flick right or left or up and down your fingers come up off
the phone.

Hi Jeannette,
Well I guess I’ll have to use the back button since I can’t get the gesture to
work. My phone thinks I’m flicking when I do the scrub gesture. My old phone
did the same thing, so I’m thinking it’s an issue with how I’m holdig my hand.

If you think about the dots on a slate and stylus, you would do dots one and
four, then do a diagonal down to dot three, and go to dot six. If that
doesn't work, just do a line up and a line down, very short, not much
pressure. Again, if that doesn't work, just go to the "back" button.

Hi Jeannette,
I’m net sure what a print Z looks like. Can you try and describe it in terms
of a braille cell? That secmed to help me when I was learning to write my
signature.

You're working way too hard. Sometimes scrubbing just doesn't work and using
the "back" button is more efficient. That being said, consider the
following. Make sure your hands are not too cold and that there is no extra
junk on your screen (bits of stuff, or even a drop of water). Use two
fingers, and my husband and I have done gestures sort of like a print Z, or
up and down. I usually try it once or twice, but if it doesn't work and I
can go back, I just use the "back" button. Also,, keeping your touch lighter
as you move your two fingers may help.

Subject: [vibug-support] Two Finger Scrub
Sent from my iPhone
Hello,
I would have brought this up at the last meeting, but unfortunately I was
out of town and wasn’t able to join. Therefore, I was hoping someone could
offer some suggestions. I am strugling with the two finger scrub gesture on
IOS. The only way I’m successful with it is to shake my whole hand back and
forth which makes my wrist sore after a while. When I have my braille
display handy, I usually just do a b chord to activate the back button, but
if I don’t have it handy, I resort to finding and double tapping the back
button. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can do the scrub gesture
that doesn’t involve shaking my wrist? I understand my wrist will move a
little, but I shouldn’t have to shake my entire hand to do thh gesture.
Kind Regards,
Kelsey Nicolay***
