Perkins School for the Blind developed the app BlindWays
<http://www.perkins.org/blindways> to pick up where GPS leaves off and guide
travelers to within a cane’s distance of MBTA bus stop signs, using reliable
navigational clues. Today, over two-thirds of MBTA bus stops have clues and now
bus routes 70 and 71 also have beacons installed by the MBTA for a pilot
program, which automatically alert BlindWays users to the presence of a bus
stop sign using iPhone vibrations. Download the BlindWays iPhone app

and start navigating to bus stops easily and independently.
Perkins is looking for testers:
Perkins Access <http://www.perkins.org/access> , a consulting division of
Perkins School for the Blind, helps organizations increase accessibility for
everyone – including people with disabilities. Usability is a part of every
Perkins Access project and feedback from users is vital. Perkins Access is
seeking individuals to participate in user testing projects. User testing
allows organizations that are building digital experiences to better understand
the barriers that some users encounter, so that they can work to improve the
experience.
