Music Therapy Assessment Tool for Awareness in Disorders of Consciousness
(MATADOC)
First Level Training
November 3rd – 5th 2015

This 3 day training being held at the Royal Hospital for Neuro-disability,
London, will equip delegates to use the MATADOC in clinical settings. The
MATADOC is a rigorous assessment and evaluation system for working with people
whose awareness is unknown due to profound brain damage. It has been researched
with adult populations with disorders of consciousness (DOC i.e. Vegetative
State and Minimally Conscious State) however it is also useful for working with
people who have complex needs due to any number of clinical conditions that
result in ‘minimal’ responsiveness e.g. advanced dementia; advanced
neurological illness; profound and multiple developmental disabilities. It is
currently being validated for use with children. Training includes delivering a
music therapy protocol, assessment of people with DOC and scoring the MATADOC.
Delegates will be provided with a copy of the MATADOC manual and the published
assessment pack.

For full details about the course and how to register please see the attached
