Andy, I've never played with a pick myself, just never had anyone show
me how to do it. I'd try moving your wrist more just like you said
and see if it helps. I also haven't heard much talk about when using
a pick exactly what your wrist is supposed to be doing. Good luck.

The angle of the pic changes slightly, slanting down for down strokes and up
for upstrokes, but my wrist doesn’t move very much. I’m wondering whether I
should be rolling my wrist more creating greater movement with the stroke of
the pic? In other words when picking the down action, shut the bottom of my
wrist role so that it is closer to the strings and the top of my wrist moves
further from the strings, with the reverse being the case for up strokes?
i’ve never had any feedback about right hand action, and that includes wrist
and arm movement instruction for when strumming. I’ve just figured it out
for myself really, so it’s good to get some tips for good practice.
