Thanks for the tips. I did as you suggested, created a folder, and put the
books in there and transferred it to my external storage using a USB cable. I
then went into quick settings and storage, found the SD card, but I can't see
the folder.

again, a card reader would probably be the choice for easiest transfer.
then, go to quick settings (settings/storage) and tap on the folder,
then tap on the file you want to listen to. the fire has an internal
mp3 file player that works great.
this last step i am not sure of. tell us what happens when you tap on
the mp3 file. do you get options for a player or what? this just what
i think should happen. whatever, you won't break anything /smile.
