I just received the new Kindle 8th gen, not the Kindle Paper White.
I also read the gentleman’s review of the Kindle and also believed it too be
quite harsh.
I am totally and completely blind.
My Amazon delivery came about two days ago and I opened my box containing my
nifty new Kindle and plugged it in to charge.
When my husband came in from cutting the grass I showed him my new Kindle and
he informed me everything was in Spanish.
When taking the Kindle out off the box, and plugging it in, I accidentally
touched the screen and selected Spanish as my Language.
Had some time today and called Amazon’s tech support and with my husband’s
assistance was able to get it back to English.
Now for the good stuff.
When pairing the Kindle with a speaker, you must press the power button for
seven seconds and release and then put two fingers slightly apart for one
second and the pairing is announced through your speaker and you must touch the
screen a second time with two fingers and pick them up to confirm the bluetooth
connection with your speaker. If you do not, the initial connection will be
lost.
It is just that simple.
I have a Kindle Fire and a Kindle Keyboard and they are just okay for
navigating and listening to Kindle books.
However, I must say this new Kindle provides the best experience I have ever
had in purchasing, navigating and reading a Kindle book.
There is one problem and it is not a deal breaker.
The documentation from Amazon suggest not to listen with a bluetooth headset
which has a microphone. It does work, but you are unable to play slash/ pause.
If you have a dedicated bluetooth headset with a microphone and you are
listening to a Kindle book and turn the headset off, when turning it back on,
the book will resume playback where it was when you turned off the headset.
This sort of works as a play/pause.
The screen and Voice View is very responsive, it is nothing like the Kindle
Fire Tablet.
There is continuous read just by swiping two fingers from top to bottom and
just by moving your fingers around most everything else is pretty much straight
forward.

nor, does he seem to understand that this new kindle paper white has a
certain targeted audience. i would be more inclined to find a review
by someone in that audience to be more credible.
it is very hard to believe, as the author wants us to believe, that
amazon would bring out, after much credible work, crap. much too
strong, even for online writing.
of course, amazon will bring out updates in the future 'cause tech
just keeps getting better.
wonder if the author will bother with updating his original post when
he gets the proper compatible device for a bluetooth match?
although, since i use it every day, it would be nice if amazon brought
back the old kindle keyboard for a price point of, let's say, $29.99
/smile.
