I'm with you Mary. The one thing that lets the 7 down for me is the
placement of the spaekr too. Given I want my tablet for media consumption
including music, I want a decent stereo sound so I don't have to connect to
anything else.

I don't think that the tablets have precisely the same electronics, that is
I know the HD eight has dolby atmos. That was specifically mentioned as a
feature there. The seven does not have that. Also, as for speaker placement,
at least with the current versions of both tablets, the seven is the speaker
faces the back. The eight speakers do not face the back, giving you a better
sound also getting you stereo. And with the addition of doblby that could
even be further enhance. Yes, you could certainly play your media through a
speaker. Saying use Bluetooth. But if you want the only one experience and
not have to fool with an extra speaker, then the eight looks like a better
deal to me. Especially if you don't have a good speaker and have to buy one.
