Hi William. Well, I never received my call back from the amazon ccustomer
service agent so I didn't bother pursuing it.

Subject: [vi-kindle] Re: up-coming Fire 8HD Dimensions
Hi Kerry. As an aside, my first Fire which I bought in August, 2015 updated to
a new OS with Alexa (in March of this year) six months after Alexa was first
offered on the Fire tablet. I would sit tight.
Truthfully, although my HD 4th generation 6" has limited internal memory and no
SD card, I love the size of the unit and have the tendency to make it my goto
tablet for most tasks! Not only that, I have Google Play Store installed and an
abundance of apps that I use regularly.
But, I also like the 5th Generation 7". The SD card is major for my music
library!
Stay well ... William

I've seen on amazon.co.uk that the next fire 7 tablet is going to be
thinner than it's current counterpart. Does anyone happen to know if
the next fire HD tablet has different or same dimensions than its
current model? Still debating whether I'm going to take this amazon
agent up on her 20% discount so I can get my hands on an Alexa model
and if I'm going to have to buy a new case to add insult to injury,
then I might well give it a miss. I do like my little Magenta tablet
and seeing as though the update is going to be released at some point
that will give me the Alexa functionality, I'm weighing up the
financial side of things.
