Thank you for your reply. Yes! My fire hd8 is now version 5.4.0.1
However, When I double tap and hold the home button and wait for the ping then
I ask Alexa a question still holding down the home button with one finger I
hear a single ping but alexa doesn't respond-I'm doing something very silly
<smiles>. I also try this within the Alexa app but with no joy.
Please can you advise?

Hi Henry. Yes. You should have Alexa enabled plus the latest update.
I am running the following OS. Is yours the same?
My two Fire tablets are running OS 5.4.0.1.
