The screen you see when the device is locked and in standby, is that not the
home screen? I never see any other ads apart from that.

if we are talking about the opening screen, then you don't even have to hear
the ads. only sighted people will be bothered.
when it opens, just do a two finger swipe upwards to get to the home screen.
there are absolutely zero ads on my home screen. none, xilch, nada.
unless you consider the clickable icons for games, app store, offers, etc to be
ads. that is imho a stretch.
again, if you mouse your finger at the bottom of the home screen, you will find
back, home and app switcher. tap on app switcher and you can dismiss any window
that you have opened. that might clean up your screen during the session you
are in.
