To each his/her own but I think you are looking at this backwards. The one
without the ads is the normal price; the one with the ads is a special price
and if you want the special price you go with ads. This is how I see it. You,
on the other hand, are seeing the lower price as the one you should be entitled
to with no strings attached. Again, if it bothers a person that much once the
Kindle arrives with ads, it is possible to get rid of the ads by paying the
price you would have originally paid for this anyway. The difference is that
you are seeing the price with ads as the "normal" price and not a special offer
while I see the one without ads as the "normal" price and the one with ads as a
special offer. We are both welcome to our differing views but this is the issue.

I bought a 7 inch for my wife last year before christmas.  It was on sale
for $35, the version without   the nag ware was $15 more.  I call that
blackmail when the price to remove it was almost half the purchase price.

It is not so much the amount but the bald face gall of the practice.

hi. "blackmail"? that's kinda rough for such an inexpensive device. if
the ads popped up when reading a book, watching a movie or listening
to music, i would say wait a minute. but, this is different.

in fact, the current home screen is more user friendly than before the
newest os update.

before, the homescreen would have suggested apps, which you could
remove, but, the next time you booted they would appear again. getting
rid of that was a great move!

for a device that is not in the amazon environment, there are other
android tablets such as the samsung tab. i've even looked at them.

but, they cost quite a bit more than the $50 fire 7".

still, i might some day pick up one for a pure android tablet!

stay well ... william

At time of purchase for an additional cost the no offers version of a fire
is available.  It is a form of blackmail ware in my opinion.

I seem to recall for an additional price this can be removed by amazon for
an already purchased fire.  I suspect it is attached to one's fire
account which they change on their end.
