I may be wrong but on my fire at least I have to do a two finger swipe up
rather than down to unlock the device.

I got it talking and somehow jumped out of the tutorial on jesters. I
selected my networknow it just just a second, checking for software updates,
and has been there for an hour or more. It says locked and I press the power
button to I guess bring it bgack to life with the same screen. I did find a
"back" iconand double tapped on that which didn't seem to do anything.
Any suggestions?
Thanks.

Ona Fire Tablet?
Hi. I was a beginner to touch in August of 2015 when I bought my first
Fire tablet. Give it a chance, and, you will find it a piece of cake.
Since you are in the states, if you have a login and/password to NLS
Bard, the bard mobile app which works like a charm on the Fire tablet
is a must! You'll find it in the Amazon app store.
Stay well ... William

I'm in the united states, and have been reading kindle books on my keyboard
since 2010. I heard the podcast on setting up the fire 7 and decided to
give it a shot. I'm not a big fan of touch screens, but thought I'd give
this a try. I'm really a beginner at this stuff, so we'll see.
Thanks and I'll take a look at your page.
