If you are using the latest Windows 10 and using the current latest version of
NVDA you do not need to install anything as NVDA taps into the inbuilt OCR
functionality of Windows 10.
Just try using NVDA plus R to see if anything is recognised. Cursor up and
down as normal to read the results.
Having said that I achieved this login with a the Jaws Virtual OCR function so
I am not certain the NVDA Windows 10 OCR will work as well. However I would say
that in general the NVDA version seems to work just as well as the Jaws version
in more general usage, if not better in some cases, so it is definatley
worth a try.

I am afraid that many of the Kindle App versions have this accessibility
hurdle, ironically even the Kindle app with Accessibility Plugin which I think
is very bad sloppiness by Amazon.
Basically if you can use OCR with Jaws or use oCR with NVDA, this is easily
done in Windows 10 with NVDA R this might give you an idea of what is going on.
In general though I find that if I tab and type in my amazon email and then tab
and type in my passwortd and then tab and press enter then eventually it will
work even though there is absolutely no sound feedback.
As I say using virtual OaCR can help you at least see if you have typed your
user name in correctly.
I think you may need to use this and use a virtual mouse click on OK to clear
the registration field window.
