hi. you cannot install or directly download apps to your kindle fire
from the google play store.
but, you can side-load apps from the google play store if the app is
available that you want using a third party resource.
i have written a tutorial on side-loading to the kindle fire at:

you shouldn't have any problems using either windows or mac.
