hi all. i talked about this feature that i was using on my fire. that
was with my 6" 4th generation fire.
looking for the same on my 7" 5th generation fire, i couldn't find it.
It is such a great feature that i use it all the time to talk text
into text boxes with apps such as email, facebook and twitter.
so, i called amazon today. all of my calls are to amazon corporate anymore.
i was switched to someone in the fire tablet branch and had a great
hour long conversation. she went to the "cabinet" and brought out the
same fire tablets that i had and did a look-see. yep, no voice tab on
the virtual keyboard on the 7" fire.
note both of these fires have the newest os and alexa.
she went through all of the settings and even more but it looked like
the newest os software did not include or perhaps removed this
application.
long story short, i impressed over and over how useful this feature
was for a blind user. and, she wrote up all of my suggestions as to
why then sending them to accessibility and software development.
i also told her that i followed amazon, kindle and fire on both
facebook and twitter. she highly recommended that i comment on those
platforms because amazon does read that stuff.
so, if you couldn't find this feature on your 7" fire after i brought
it up, it's not in your head. it's a feature dropped (hopefully coming
back) in the current os.
