You should make comments and reviews for amazon requesting that they make all
their voices available. Do this on amazon's twiter and facebook pages, and on
the amazon site on the page for the various kindle products. I have heard that
amazon pays attention to these things and strives to make its customers happy
with its products. So this might be a way for you to get the voices you want in
time.

Sure, I can re-kindle books on the iPad mini using Alex. The Alex voice is
fine, but some of the books I read just don't go with a male voice. And then
there is the famous Samantha voice, which is also available on the iPhone or
iPad. It's just that I would prefer a different voice. And unfortunately,
although I have that voice on my iPad, it's locked to an app, and apple
doesn't let you use the voice that's locked to an app for another app. I
suppose it's rather picky. But since kindle devices are so cheap, if they
would offer the voice I really like, I would be very happy. And they own the
rights to all those voices. So I wish they would just put them up for us to
download if we want them.

Hi Mary!
Why can't you read kindle books on your i-pad mini? Can't you just download
the kindle app and read books on your tablet with that app? It works fine on
my i-phone. Does it not work on the i-pad mini?

Joey works for some books. And Amy is OK. I just have a thing about British
accent. Sorry folks from the UK. I realize I'm being very provincial. Lots
of people do like Karen. I do have Kendra still on my iPad mini, which is
where I read a lot of my books, although not kindle books, since I can't.
But voice dream reader has that option still.

Hi Mary, I know what you mean about Sally, Sometimes she works and
sometimes she doesn't. It depends on the book. (smile) I like Amy though,
and also I think her name is Karen, from Australia. I love Kendra, but
she's not there, sadly. You may find another one that you like though. I
can't say much for any of the male voices. But if there's one you like, he
might be there. If there is, let me know and I might try it. (smile) Faith

screen reader
Thanks, faith. Language and input. I admit I didn't look there. Smile. I
was hoping that Amazon in his infinite wisdom would have put the Kendra
voice up for those of us who like that voice particularly. I really
despise the default female voice, Sally. She sounds to me like a snotty
teenager. And I don't want a snotty teenager reading my books. Smile. I
know speech synthesizers are a matter of personal taste. But since Amazon
owns all of the portfolio that used to be the independent company I vona,
I wish they would do the right thing and put all of the voices up. Oh
well, I guess they haven't.

Hi Mary, I haven't found any way to add more voices except more languages
like the UK voices or Australia etc. Other than that, I don't know. You
can go into language and input, I believe, in the settings, and find
those. They're free, and not bad. Faith

reader
Are used to know how to do that. My husband has an HD eight, the one from
this current year. And he turned on the screen reader and I went to try
to find out whether there were any more voices available than was the
case a yea're ago. And I couldn't remember how to do it. Searching
through the section on voice view in the settings didn't turn up anything
very likely. So, I'm asking here. Thanks for a pointer.
