I also have a kindle keyboard my wife bought me just before she died in 2010
which I still use for most of my reading. There was a book I bought
recently that didn't allow text to speech, so as I recall, I had to load it
into kindle for pc so codex could find it. I then converted it to text and
put it back on my kindle keyboard. I'll have to try the older version of
kindle for pc if it is on the codex page.

Hi. Let me qualify my last post. For my needs, both codex and Kindle
for PC work on my laptop running Windows XP. However. the connection
is only necessary for me to use codex. I never read any Kindle books
using Windows for PC.
I have a Fire tablet and a Kindle ereader with bluetooth audio for
reading Kindle books. Also, I have a seven year-old Kindle keyboard.
So, I really have no reason to read Kindle books on my PC.
If you are curious, I saw recently the Kindle keyboard on ebay for
$15. And, yes, you can voice without sighted help although setting up
such as wireless needs a sighted hand because there is no keyboard
feedback.
Wanted to clear-up any possible mis-commumication.

Amazon is not totally accessible by keyboard in "Manage my Kindle" so,
I need to use my mouse to find some windows that pop. However, it is
useable and I have made short-work of the manipulations.
I'll have to write-up instructions since the codex author is using a
later version of Windows which does (according to him) some of these
operations automatically.
And, that, if you couldn't get it to work, is most likely the problem.
