Hi. Yes. The Kindle keyboard can be quicker to use than any of the
newer digital units.
It's always on, so I'm reading before the other devices I own even open.
Additionally, I get the Columbus, Ohio newspaper daily through Amazon
for a steal of $6.99/month.
However, my new Kindle ereader with audio over bluetooth will not read
it. My Fire tablet will, but, it is alot faster to read and navigate
with the Kindle keyboard!
Sometimes new and improved, well, just ain't. I have said more than
once, that if I had the ability, I would build a Kindle reader on the
base of the keyboard, but, move the keyboard horizontal (so the keys
were just a bit bigger) and make it provide voice-feedback.
Considering that the keyboard plays mp3 audio files also, that would
be perfect!
Yes, text conversion works just fine. It is also a great help if there
is a summary in the book with alot of website url's used in
researching the book. or, if you would just want to quote some great
passage in the book. pulling up the text in notepad and doing a
copy/paste does the trick!
I purchased the Kindle keyboard in December, 2010 for my wife (with
the idea that I would also try using the tts feature), but, she
although sighted, didn't have the patience to learn how to use it. So,
I took hold of it and just fooled around with it until I figured it
out. Later, I bought her a Fire tablet. She liked that alot better and
reads books alot with it, mostly public library book loans!

recently that didn't allow text to speech, so as I recall, I had to load it
into kindle for pc so codex could find it. I then converted it to text and
put it back on my kindle keyboard. I'll have to try the older version of
kindle for pc if it is on the codex page.
