Hi Michael. Go back to keyboard and language in quick settings/settings.
You will be given a choice of languages. Pick English.
I switched between English to Spanish and British English and
everything in that section switched to that choice.
I didn't go to Help but, I would bet a dollar to a donut that this
switch to another language is built into the total Fire OS, including
default programs and apps including Help.
That means that Amazon has created a tablet with translations for
multiple languages throughout the complete system, although I imagine
this is a pure android thing as well.
Tell me if this is the change that you are looking for.
By the way, did you set-up your Fire here in the states or where you
are now? If where you are now, I bet that the Fire set-up you with
German because it picked up your location and set the language as
German. However, if I can change this option, you should be able to
as well.
Additionally, I don't think you need to be offline to do the change. I
did all of the above while my Fire was connected online.

frustrated that, just because I am in a German-speaking country it is
automatically assumed that I want everything in the local language. That

change these settings you'll have to go back and make your changes.

accessibility. voice-view and gestures internally. You might also try
linking to www.amazon.com and searching for information there. Perhaps
it will default to German because of your location, but, don't know. I
would think you could get the English version from the website as well
though.
