Hi Michael. Suggestions and Question.
1. Are you using the silk browser when directed to German pages?
2. quick settings (double finger swipe dowin from the top of the glass
on the home screen) - settings - keyboard and language (here you can
set language from a dropdown. double tap to get the dropdown and tts
voice, double to see additional voices to download.)
3. There is no quick gesture to change this stuff on the fly. To
change these settings you'll have to go back and make your changes.
4. Check out Help on your Fire. The tablet has a ton of information on
accessibility. voice-view and gestures internally. You might also try
linking to www.amazon.com and searching for information there. Perhaps
it will default to German because of your location, but, don't know. I
would think you could get the English version from the website as well
though.

the unit, because family matters were more important. While over there, I
only set up the fire with my Amazon and Google account information.

Unfortunately, I have had some issues with the Kindle that have made my

described, I am automatically directed to German pages which, in and of

not switch to German. In all truthfulness, I would prefer getting all of my
Kindle and VoiceView documentation in English. Reading German poses
absolutely no problem for me, but I can’t get the Kindle Fire to speak
German.
So I have two questions:
1. Even though I live in a German-speaking country, can I force my Kindle
Fire to take me to English-written pages for Kindle and VoiceView
documentation?
2. How can I get my unit to use German speech output, and what gesture
accomplishes this?
