Yes, it does make sense. You do want to dismiss the overlay and then start
swiping and it can be a bit tricky. When you open again it should start where
you left off. Hth.

Hi, Cheryl!
Thanks for your explanation of how you get continuous reading to work in Kindle
books. I was speaking of Kindle books in my previous message. I meant the
thing that says 'dismiss overlays', in menyioning how I get continuous reading
to work. The extra reaing I mention seems to be once for the voice view
reading the current window, then the continuous tts reading picking up where it
last read, which would happen to be that same window; does that make sense?
Thanks again,

Okay, I can only speak for continuous reading when in a Kindle book and I
don't know if that applies to your situation but I will tell you how this
works for me in hope that this may help you. I can make continuous reading
work when in a Kindle book but I cannot do it the way the instructions
describe when I open a book. Just swiping down with two fingers when no menus
are present doesn't result in continuous reading for me. I open the book. If
no menu is present I double-tap on the dontent with a finger to bring up the
menu. I double-tap on "dismiss overlays". The book will start reading then but
it isn't in continuous reading. I place my finger on the screen to stop
reading. Then I go to the top of the Kindle, swiping down with two fingers. If
reading doesn't start the swipe wasn't right; if reading starts you should now
be in continuous mode. I am afraid this may not be applicable to whatever you
are doing and I haven't done much continuous reading in other apps or other
content on the Kindle Fire but I hope this helps. It does appear that the
Kindle is kind of picky about the placement and length of the two-finger
swipe. It is much easier on my iPhone plus which I can read in braille on my
iPhone but I can make this work with the Kindle and do it pretty often.

Greetings!
I cannot get the two-finger swipe that is supposed to start continuous reading
to work. Is there a special part of the screen where I'm supposed to do this?
Is it a matter of swiping speed and/or pressure? Something else? Same goes
for turning the page. I'm supposed to swipe left to go to next page, right for
previous. I find this doesn't work. The only way I can get continuous reading
is to pull the menus down and hit the 'start continuous reading' button, even
then, the previous page is repeated, twice, before reading starts. The
swiping shortcuts to home, settings, etc, don't work.
And, then, there's the question of editing. I still cannot do this, even with
an external keyboard and the Accessible Editor Demo installed. I get key echo
while typing, and can backspace over immediate typos, but cannot do editing
and review using the arrow keys--they move me out of the entry field.
Thanks for any thoughts,
Dave H.
