I am looking for any price or recommendation anyone had.
I have had Stargardt's disease all my life. I didn't know that I had it
until I was 25, but by then it was already creating problems for my school
work etc. Needless to say I have long since learned to live with starboard
guards and have all the gizmos I could possibly need.
Two years ago I had a stroke. I was 62. Now I have added hemianopsia to my
legal blindness. I thought it might eventually clear up since it just
happened as a result of my stroke, but that has not proven to be the case.
Not only is my Central vision missing now it is also the entire lower half
of my eyesight.
I use Zoomtext. I had pretty much gotten that down, and used it on a daily
basis, including writing several novels more than half of which were
published by publishers. But now I have the hemianopsia to which throws
quite a monkeywrench into the works. I was used to no central vision, but
now more than half of my eyesight is gone very poor.
So now I am looking for a solution to this problem. When I open my computer
and open a Word file or even look at a webpage I don't see much of
anything. I just see a lot of fuzzy writing. I know I can listen to things
on my computer, but I don't know if this is my stroke but I have a harder
time concentrating on that.
Lately I've been trying to find some new to help me write. I must have
about eight books in me if not more. As it happens my latest book which I
wrote since my stroke but perhaps before my struggle with the new vision
problems, a book called A FINE BROMANCE, just came out as a new release

My typing leaves a lot to be desired. I don't know why but my fingers find
the wrong keys all the time even though I taught myself to touch type when
I was 50. In fact when I tried to use Dragon NaturallySpeaking I tend to
hit the wrong key occasionally which managed to activate some other window
than I ever could've wanted. That is proving to be quite a challenge. I
suspect that what I will do is learn to use a recorder to write the next
chapter of a book, then have the the audio file converted to an MP3 and put
it into Dragon to transcribe. If that works it will be wonderful. Learning
to speak what I'm thinking will take some time but I will get it done.
One of the other problems that I have thanks to my stroke is memory. It is
not strictly impaired but it is slowed down. I am learning how to cope with
that pretty well.
So any ideas you can offer me or ideas on how to use software and other
tools will be so much appreciated I can't tell you.
